The AirTAC MAL series is a double-acting aluminum-barrel mini round cylinder with threaded front and back covers. It spans 4 bores (20 25 32 40 mm) with standard strokes up to 500 mm. It is not an ISO 6432 stainless mini or an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Ports are G1/8 for bores 20-32 and G1/4 for bore 40 with PT G or NPT thread options.
The force class spans 157 N push at 0.5 MPa for the 20 mm bore up to 628 N for the 40 mm bore. Theoretical max force at 1.0 MPa spans 32 kgf to 128 kgf. The series uses a bumper cushion and supports magnetic position sensing.
The MAL series is discontinued and end-of-life. AirTAC replaced it with the MBL series. The MBL is a drop-in replacement keeping the same bore stroke output force port size and mounting. The MBL changes the body to a riveted rolling-packed design and adds an adjustable-air-cushion option (MBLC) the MAL never had. Legacy MAL magnet switches used older CS1-M or DS1-M sensors while MBL uses current CMSG DMSG or EMSG switches.

Match the bore to your load using the force span (157-628 N push at 0.5 MPa). Choose variants by function: MALJ for adjustable stroke MSAL for single push MTAL for single pull and MALD for double rod. Confirm these 5 points before ordering: bore size stroke length port thread type mounting style and magnet option (-S).
Step out of this series to a neighboring AirTAC family if you need an ISO 6432 stainless mini cylinder or an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Because MAL is discontinued buyers should select the MBL drop-in replacement for new builds. If load holding is required note that a double-acting air cylinder does not hold position without pressure so add a mechanical lock or pilot check valve.
