AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE20X15B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE20X15B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP20X15B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 15mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE20X15B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the discontinued ASP20X15B extends its 10 mm rod with air and retracts it by spring, so one air line is all the plumbing a 15 mm stroke needs. At 0.5 MPa the net push is 127.4 N (190.2 N at 0.7 MPa, already net of the spring), and it needs just 0.2 MPa to beat the spring. The male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to I/Y knuckles on the ISO 21287 face.
The short hard-anodized aluminium body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarding. For planning, count on roughly 76 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, enough to lift about 6 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ASE20X15, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 127.4 N net push at 0.5 MPa seats small terminals or dowels in electronics assembly, and the 15 mm stroke keeps the jig footprint minimal.
One air line extends the gate to tip off-spec bottles; the spring retracts it the moment pressure drops, a fail-safe default for food and beverage lines.
With about 6 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the cylinder raises microplate carriers in compact analyzer modules where length is scarce.
Size against neighbours: the 16 mm bore gives 78.4 N at 0.5 MPa while the 25 mm bore reaches 210.1 N, so the 20 mm at 127.4 N sits in the middle for light clamping and ejection. Remember the spring drives the rod home on air loss, so it will not hold a mid-stroke position. If you need position sensing, order the -S code to enable CMSE / DMSE switches; this plain code has no magnet. For new builds, specify the ASE20X15 instead, as the ASP is discontinued.
