The AirTAC AirTAC GF400-15 Filter (GF40015MWG) is a genuine G-series air filter. It separates condensed water and filters particulate from the compressed-air line through a 5 µm element, with PT1/2" ports and a manual drain. A filter does not set downstream pressure — pair it with a GR regulator, or use a GFR filter regulator, when pressure control is needed.
GF40015MWG is an AirTAC G-series air filter from the 400 size family, rated for compressed air only. It carries a G1/2 (BSPP) female port, a manual drain bowl and a 5 um filter element for finer particulate capture than the standard 40 um grade. The drain is opened by hand on a schedule to expel collected water, and the maximum inlet pressure for this manual-drain version is 0.9 MPa (130 psi). Operating temperature range is -5 to 70 C, non-freezing. This unit filters water and particulate only - there is no pressure regulation and no lubrication in the GF family.
This is a genuine AirTAC part. The GF range covers 200, 300, 400 and 600 sizes with ports from 1/8 to 1 inch, differential-pressure, automatic or manual drains, 40 um standard or 5 um fine elements, and G (BSPP) or NPT thread options besides the PT standard; a mounting bracket is included. AirTAC publishes filter flow as curves rather than a single rating, so ask us to confirm the datasheet and sizing for your application on request.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC G-series air-preparation data. The inlet-pressure band is set by the drain type: automatic and differential-pressure drains run 0.15 - 1.0 MPa, a manual drain runs 0 - 0.9 MPa. Air must not freeze in the unit. Flow curves, weight and outline dimensions are not published in our data set — ask us and we will confirm from the factory datasheet.
| GF400 | G-series air filter, 400 body — sets the port range. |
|---|---|
| 15 | Port size PT1/2". This body offers 10 = PT3/8", 15 = PT1/2". |
| M | Drain: Manual drain. Options are differential (blank), automatic (A) or manual (M). |
| (blank) | Mounting bracket included. A bracket ships by default; J orders it without. |
| W | Filtering grade 5 µm. Only 40 µm (blank) and 5 µm (W) exist. |
| G | G (BSPP) thread. PT is the default; G is BSPP and T is NPT. |
Field order is size, port, drain, bracket, grade, thread — a blank position takes the default. Example: GF300-10AJW is a 300 body, PT3/8", automatic drain, no bracket, 5 µm element, PT thread.
A larger body carries a larger port and passes more air at the same pressure drop. AirTAC publishes flow only as curves, so size the body from your peak demand with headroom rather than from a single rated figure. The GF600 uses an aluminium-alloy bowl; the 200, 300 and 400 bodies use PC.

On the air drop feeding a CNC machining center, the 5 um element strips water and fine particulate before they reach spindle seals, tool-change cylinders and solenoid valves; the manual drain is emptied during scheduled operator rounds.
On a packaging line's carton taper-sealers, the filter keeps condensate and pipe scale out of the tape-head and flap-fold cylinders, with the 1/2 in G port suiting the main drop that feeds several sealers.
In an automotive paint booth's prep-air circuit, the GF40015MWG removes water and debris from the compressed air feeding pneumatic agitators and masking equipment, protecting finish quality upstream of final point-of-use treatment.
Size 400 with a 1/2 inch G port sits in the upper-middle of the GF family: step down to 300 or up to 600 depending on the flow your line needs - we will check the published flow curve with you before you order. The 5 um W element suits points of use where finer particulate matters; choose the 40 um standard grade where general line protection is enough. Manual drain (M) means water is released by an operator during service rounds, versus the automatic (A) or differential-pressure options that vent the bowl without hands-on attention. Thread here is G (BSPP); PT is the standard and NPT is also a catalogue option. A mounting bracket is included.
Flow is published as curves, not a single rated figure, so ask us to confirm sizing against your application before ordering.
Quick checklist
The PC bowl must not be cleaned with solvents or exposed to synthetic oils that attack polycarbonate — wipe it with a dry cloth. A filter removes water and particulate only; it does not regulate pressure or add lubrication.
AirTAC publishes filter flow as performance curves, not a single rated number, so we do not quote a figure here. Send us your line pressure and air demand and we will confirm the curve and datasheet for the GF40015MWG on request.
Manual drain means water is released by opening the drain when scheduled - simple and dependable where operators already service the point of use. If nobody drains the bowl regularly, choose an automatic (A) or differential-pressure version instead; we can help you match the drain type to the application.
