About the Airtac SAIJ80 Adjustable Cylinder SAIJ80AX450-100

The AirTAC SAIJ80X450-100 is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a rear stroke adjuster. It provides a 350-450 mm usable travel window, allowing you to dial back the 450 mm nominal stroke by up to 100 mm during commissioning. This bore delivers 2513 N pull force at 0.5 MPa and uses a robust M20x1.5 rod thread.

The piston rod is constructed from SUS420J2 stainless steel (code A) for enhanced corrosion resistance. It features PT tapered port threads (G3/8) and dual sensor grooves on the extruded aluminum barrel. Note that the rear adjuster acts only as a travel stop to fine-tune deceleration; it does not hold loads without live air pressure.

Product Changeover

Quickly modify the effective stroke from 350 to 450 mm when switching to a different package size on a packaging line, without changing the cylinder.

End-Position Tuning

Fine-tune the exact retract position during machine commissioning to align tooling perfectly, using the rear screw rather than adding mechanical shims.

Variable End Stops

Provide flexible deceleration points in automated assembly equipment where multiple retract positions are required from a single actuator.

Is the Airtac SAIJ80 Adjustable Cylinder SAIJ80AX450-100 the Right Cylinder?

Choose this 80 mm bore if your application requires the 2513 N pull force at 0.5 MPa but needs flexible end-positioning rather than a fixed stop. The 100 mm adjustment range is perfect for product changeovers on a line, eliminating the need to swap cylinders or bolt on external stops. If your machine needs to hold a load position without continuous air pressure, select the SAIL or BSAI series instead, as the SAIJ adjuster is not a locking mechanism.

Because the 450 mm stroke is substantial, the M20x1.5 rod and internal components will experience higher bending moments under side loads. Always use an external guide rail to prevent rod damage and premature seal wear. When replacing an ISO 15552 cylinder, match the 80 mm bore, 450 mm stroke, 100 mm adjustment, PT G3/8 port, and mounting style (Basic, FA, LB, TC, FTC, TCM1, or TCM2).

Quick checklist

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SAIJ80 Adjustable Cylinder SAIJ80AX450-100 FAQ

At 0.5 MPa, this 80 mm bore cylinder provides 2513 N pull force and 2268 N push force. It operates at speeds between 30 and 800 mm/s.

The rear adjuster screw lets you shorten the 450 mm nominal stroke by up to 100 mm, creating a 350-450 mm usable travel window. It functions as a mechanical stop and does not lock the load without live air.
