The AirTAC SAILB100X900-S is a double-acting ISO 15552 profile cylinder featuring a built-in mechanical lock in the back cover. Because the lock is spring-applied and air-released, cutting the release air drives a lock pin into the rod, securely holding the load at the retracted stroke end without requiring live pressure. With a 100mm bore, it generates 5497N of push force at 0.7 MPa and includes a magnetic piston for position sensing.
This model uses a PT tapered port thread and a carbon steel rod. The variable air cushion at the locker end measures 24mm, which is intentionally shorter than the 36mm cushion at the free end to accommodate the locking hardware. For power-loss safety, the lock engages automatically after the piston stops, but it is a static holding device, not a dynamic brake.

The lock is spring-applied and air-released: a spring drives a lock pin into the rod when the release air is removed, so the load is held at the retracted (rod-in) stroke end without live pressure. Supply air to the release port to unlock automatically, or use the manual release lever.
The lock engages only when the piston reaches the stroke terminal on the back-cover side — it is a static end-of-stroke hold, not a mid-stroke clamp and not a moving-rod brake. For locking at any position along the stroke, choose a BSAI clamp-lock instead.

Cylinder thrust is separate from the lock's holding capability. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure — size with a margin.

Choose this 100mm bore when the 80mm bore (providing 3518N push at 0.7 MPa) is insufficient, or step up to the 125mm bore (8590N at 0.7 MPa) if your vertical load exceeds 5497N. Select the SAILB configuration when the load must be held in the retracted position; choose SAILF if you need to hold the extended rod-out position. If your application requires clamping at an arbitrary mid-stroke point rather than the stroke end, use the BSAI clamp-lock cylinder instead.
When matching replacements, verify the 100mm bore, 900mm stroke, back locker position, PT ports, and the -S magnet. Since the 900mm stroke is substantial, use a guide rail to prevent rod sag and side-load damage. Avoid fast-exhaust valves; back-pressure on the locker side can unintentionally release the lock, so use an independent-exhaust solenoid valve. Always add an independent mechanical safety measure if human safety depends on the load staying up.
