About the Airtac SC50 Standard Cylinder SC50X1000S

The AirTAC SC50X1000S is a double-acting tie-rod cylinder delivering 982 N of push force at 0.5 MPa and up to 1767 N at the maximum operating pressure of 1.0 MPa. With a 50 mm bore, 20 mm piston rod, and a 1000 mm stroke, it is built for long linear movements in automation.

This model includes a built-in magnet (suffix -S), allowing direct mounting of CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG reed and solid-state sensors on the barrel for precise end-of-stroke or mid-position detection. The standard TPU seals provide a reliable operating temperature range of -20 to +70 °C, and the adjustable pneumatic cushion at both ends decelerates the piston smoothly over a 21 mm cushion length.

Where the Airtac SC50 Standard Cylinder SC50X1000S Is Used

conveyor_belt

Long-Stroke Material Transfer

Pushes or pulls bins and trays across a 1-meter span on roller conveyors. The magnet enables sensor feedback at both ends of the travel.

precision_manufacturing

Automated Welding Fixtures

Clamps large fabrications with a 1000 mm reach. The built-in magnetic piston allows position confirmation in harsh, weld-spatter environments with a compatible solid-state sensor.

Vertical Lift Assist

Provides the long stroke needed for a light-duty vertical lift gate or panel. Note that the cylinder does not hold position when air is exhausted; an external brake is required for static holding.

Is the Airtac SC50 Standard Cylinder SC50X1000S the Right Cylinder?

Select the SC50X1000S when your application needs a 1000 mm stroke with a force of 982 N at 0.5 MPa. If you require more force, step up to the SC63 bore, which provides 1559 N at the same pressure. For a stroke of 1000 mm, side-load management is critical; the 20 mm rod is susceptible to bending under lateral forces. Always use an external guide rail or rod-alignment coupler to protect the rod bearing and seals, or consider a guided cylinder for integrated support.

For a direct replacement, match these five points exactly: 50 mm bore, 1000 mm stroke, PT port thread, basic mounting (no brackets), and the built-in magnet (-S). This is a standard stroke within the 1200 mm maximum for the 50 bore.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Required force at your working pressure
  • ✓ Stroke and mounting space
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/NPT/G)
  • ✓ Magnet (-S) for sensors?
  • ✓ Side load — consider a guided cylinder

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC50 Standard Cylinder SC50X1000S FAQ

At the standard 0.5 MPa operating pressure, the push force is 982 N and the pull force is 825 N. At the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa, the push force increases to 1767 N. The theoretical maximum force at 1.0 MPa is 200 kgf.

Ensure the replacement matches these five specifications: a 50 mm bore, a 1000 mm stroke, PT (tapered) port threads, a basic mount with no integrated brackets, and a built-in magnet for sensors. The SC is a tie-rod cylinder and is not dimensionally interchangeable with ISO 15552 profile cylinders.
