Size the valve so effective area / Cv is not the bottleneck for your cylinder bore and speed. Undersized valves slow the actuator. Note 5/3 (center) versions have a smaller effective area than the 5/2 of the same body size.

A Dia40 mm double-acting cylinder knocking cartons off a roller conveyor at up to 5 cycles per second; Cv 1.0 keeps stroke time short, and the spring return pulls the pusher back the instant the PLC signal drops.
Clamp cylinders in the Dia32-50 mm band give roughly 40-100 kgf of clamping force at 0.5 MPa; with this valve the clamp opens automatically whenever the 24 V signal is cut, and a pilot-operated check valve should be added wherever certified load holding is required.

Single valves can also be stacked on a manifold base to form a compact multi-valve group.
