This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE80X10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE80X10B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X10B

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X10B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 10mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE80X10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X10B

The ASP80X10B is a single acting push cylinder with spring return: compressed air extends the 20 mm rod and the internal spring retracts it, so one air line is all the plumbing needs. This 80 mm bore delivers 2316.2 N of push at 0.5 MPa and 3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both figures already net of the return spring. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight press fixtures and guarded stations a full-length body cannot reach.

Practical sizing: keep real work to about 1390 N at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rating), which is about 140 kg of usable push. For vertical lifting, the raw 2316.2 N equates to about 236 kgf, so plan on lifting roughly 118 kg with a 2:1 margin. Note that this model is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ASE80X10, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The male rod thread (B code) and 1/4" PT port are carried over in the successor family.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE80X10B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø80mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa3321.5 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X10B Is Used

compress

Pneumatic press stamping

A 10 mm working stroke with 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa marks batch codes or dimples on aluminium housings at up to 500 mm/s approach speed.

precision_manufacturing

Fixture clamping on CNC pallets

The short body tucks inside machining-fixture walls where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would overhang; spring retraction clears the part when air drops.

factory

Gate latching on packaging lines

Air pressure latches a guard gate; the return spring unlatches it automatically on power loss, a fail-safe motion needing only one 1/4" air line.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X10B with the ASE80X10B

Size between bores: the 63 mm frame gives 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa while the 100 mm frame reaches 3640.7 N, so the 80 mm sits squarely in the mid-heavy class for short-stroke clamping. Because the spring drives the rod home on air loss, this cylinder returns to the retracted position rather than holding a mid-stroke pose - pick a double-acting ACE if you need position holding. Mounting options include FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis; the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches, but this unit (no S code) carries no magnet. Replacement: order ASE80X10 and verify ISO 21287 dimensions.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE80X10B
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP80X10B FAQ

Push force is 2316.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3321.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof; 0.2 MPa is the minimum needed to overcome the spring. Speed range is 50-500 mm/s and the fluid must be air filtered to 40 um.

The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the short ISO 21287-class format, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The ASP family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ASE80X10 (swap the P for an E) in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap.
