About the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X730S

The AirTAC SC100X730S is a double-acting tie-rod cylinder with a 100 mm bore and a 730 mm stroke, factory-equipped with a built-in magnet (-S) for direct mounting of CMSG/DMSG/EMSG reed or solid-state sensors. At 0.5 MPa it provides 3927 N push force and 3681 N pull force, rising to 7068 N push at the 0.9 MPa maximum operating pressure.

This model uses a 25 mm diameter piston rod with an M20x1.5 male knuckle thread and PT1/2 ports. The adjustable air cushion (29 mm length) decelerates the piston at end-of-travel to reduce impact. The body length A is 188 mm, giving a total extended length of approximately 918 mm. Operating temperature range is -20 to +70 °C with the standard TPU/NBR seals.

Pallet Transfer Systems

The 3927 N push force at 0.5 MPa moves loaded pallets across roller conveyors. The 730 mm stroke bridges transfer gaps, and the built-in magnet allows end-of-stroke sensing for automated sequencing.

precision_manufacturing

Heavy Part Ejection

Ejects large stamped or moulded parts from fixtures. The 7068 N peak force at 0.9 MPa handles sticky or heavy components, while the adjustable cushion softens the return stroke impact.

engineering

Material Lift Assist

Provides the lifting muscle in a scissor-lift or vertical panel-raising station. The -S magnet confirms the cylinder is fully retracted before the next load cycle, improving safety and cycle reliability.

Is the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X730S the Right Cylinder?

Select the SC100 when your application needs roughly 4000 N of force at standard plant pressure. If you can accept a smaller envelope, stepping down to an SC80 bore delivers 2513 N push at 0.5 MPa; for higher force, the SC125 bore provides 6136 N push at the same pressure. This 730 mm stroke is well within the 1500 mm maximum standard stroke for the 100 mm bore.

At 730 mm of stroke, the 25 mm rod is relatively long. Any significant side load or off-centre mounting will create a bending moment on the rod bearing. For guided linear motion at this stroke length, pair the cylinder with an external guide rail or consider a guided-cylinder unit. To replace an existing SC100X730S, match five points exactly: 100 mm bore, 730 mm stroke, PT1/2 port thread, the built-in magnet (-S), and the basic (no bracket) mounting.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Required force at your working pressure
  • ✓ Stroke and mounting space
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/NPT/G)
  • ✓ Magnet (-S) for sensors?
  • ✓ Side load — consider a guided cylinder

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X730S FAQ

At 0.5 MPa the theoretical push force is 3927 N, and at 0.7 MPa it is 5497 N. The maximum operating pressure of 1.0 MPa produces 7068 N of push force. Pull forces are slightly lower due to the rod area: 3681 N at 0.5 MPa.

Yes. The -S suffix indicates a built-in magnet on the piston, so you can clamp AirTAC CMSG (reed) or DMSG/EMSG (solid-state) sensors directly onto the barrel tie-rod slots to detect piston position without external brackets.
