About the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X80H

The AirTAC SC100X80H is a double-acting tie-rod cylinder equipped with high-temperature Viton (FKM) seals, extending the operating range to 0–150 °C for demanding thermal environments. With a 100 mm bore and 80 mm stroke, it delivers a push force of 3927 N at 0.5 MPa and up to 7068 N at the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa.

This model uses a 25 mm diameter piston rod with an M20×1.5 rod thread and PT1/2 ports. The compact body length A is 188 mm, resulting in a total extended length of approximately 268 mm. Its adjustable air cushion (29 mm length) decelerates the piston smoothly at stroke end, protecting the end caps during high-cycle operation.

Foundry & Heat-Treat Clamping

Viton seals allow this cylinder to operate reliably in foundry clamping fixtures or heat-treatment loaders where ambient temperatures reach 150 °C, maintaining 3927 N of clamping force at 0.5 MPa.

precision_manufacturing

Autoclave Door Actuation

The 80 mm stroke and high-temperature sealing make it suitable for opening and closing small autoclave or industrial oven doors, resisting seal hardening from repeated thermal cycling.

engineering

Hot-Melt Glue Press

Delivers consistent pressing force in hot-melt adhesive assembly stations. The adjustable cushion prevents impact damage when the 25 mm rod drives a heated platen at speeds up to 800 mm/s.

Is the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X80H the Right Cylinder?

Select the SC100X80H when you need a robust 100 mm bore actuator in high-temperature surroundings where standard seals would degrade. If your force requirement is lower at room temperature, stepping down to the SC80 series (2513 N push at 0.5 MPa) can reduce air consumption. For higher thrust, the SC125 series offers 6136 N at the same pressure.

To ensure a correct replacement, match five points: 100 mm bore, 80 mm stroke, PT1/2 port thread, basic (no mounting accessory), and the high-temperature Viton seal variant. This cylinder does not include a built-in magnet; if you need barrel-mounted position sensors, specify the -S suffix (e.g., SC100X80SH).

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X80H FAQ

At 0.5 MPa, the push force is 3927 N and the pull force is 3681 N. At 0.7 MPa, push force increases to 5497 N. The maximum recommended operating force at 0.9 MPa is 7068 N. The theoretical maximum at 1.0 MPa is 801 kgf.

No. The SC100X80H is a double-acting cylinder and does not lock or hold position when air pressure is exhausted or the directional valve is centered—the piston will drift. If load holding is required in a hot environment, you must add an external rod brake or a pilot-operated check valve rated for 150 °C.
