About the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X90S

The SC100X90S is a double-acting pneumatic cylinder with a 100 mm bore and 90 mm stroke, delivering a push force of 3927 N at 0.5 MPa and up to 7068 N at 0.9 MPa. Its 25 mm diameter piston rod and PT1/2 port provide a robust platform for medium-to-heavy linear actuation tasks where a compact stroke is sufficient.

The built-in magnet (indicated by the -S suffix) allows direct mounting of CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG reed and solid-state sensors on the tie-rod barrel for precise, non-contact end-of-stroke or mid-stroke position feedback. This genuine AirTAC SC cylinder uses adjustable air cushioning and TPU seals for reliable operation from -20 to +70 °C.

Where the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X90S Is Used

conveyor_belt

Material Stop & Gate

The 90 mm stroke and 3927 N push force at 0.5 MPa are ideal for raising and lowering positive material stops or divert gates on conveyor lines, with the built-in magnet providing sensor confirmation of gate position.

compress

Clamping & Press-Fixture

With up to 7068 N of force at 0.9 MPa, this cylinder suits heavy-duty pneumatic clamping fixtures and assembly presses where a short, powerful stroke is needed to hold parts during machining or bonding.

precision_manufacturing

Automated Sorting Pusher

Use the SC100X90S as a high-force ejector or sorting pusher. The CMSG/DMSG sensors clamped to the barrel give the PLC a clean signal when the pusher is fully retracted, enabling fast cycle rates.

Is the Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X90S the Right Cylinder?

Select the SC100 bore when your application needs roughly 4000 N of force at standard shop air. If your load is closer to 2500 N, stepping down to an 80 mm bore (2513 N at 0.5 MPa) can reduce air consumption and physical size. For strokes of 300 mm or more, evaluate side-load conditions and consider an external guide or a guided cylinder to protect the rod bearing from bending moments.

When replacing an existing cylinder, match five points: 100 mm bore, 90 mm stroke, PT1/2 port thread, the built-in magnet for sensor compatibility, and the basic (no bracket) mounting style. This SC model is a tie-rod cylinder and is not dimensionally interchangeable with ISO 15552 profile cylinders.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Required force at your working pressure
  • ✓ Stroke and mounting space
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/NPT/G)
  • ✓ Magnet (-S) for sensors?
  • ✓ Side load — consider a guided cylinder

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC100 Standard Cylinder SC100X90S FAQ

At the standard operating pressure of 0.5 MPa, the push force is 3927 N and the pull force is 3681 N. At the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa, the push force increases to 7068 N. The theoretical maximum force at 1.0 MPa is 801 kgf.

Yes. The -S suffix in SC100X90S means a magnet is built into the piston. You can clamp AirTAC CMSG (reed) or DMSG/EMSG (solid-state) sensors directly onto the cylinder's tie-rod barrel to detect piston position without extra brackets.
