About the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X1014S

The AirTAC SC80X1014S is a double-acting single-rod pneumatic cylinder with an 80 mm bore and a non-standard stroke of 1014 mm. It delivers a push force of 2513 N at 0.5 MPa and up to 4523 N at 0.9 MPa, driven by a 25 mm diameter piston rod. The built-in magnet allows CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors to be mounted directly on the tie-rod barrel for reliable end-of-stroke detection.

This model features an adjustable pneumatic cushion (28 mm length) at both ends to decelerate the piston smoothly. The total extended body length is approximately 1196 mm (body length A of 182 mm plus the 1014 mm stroke). Ports are PT3/8 with an M20x1.5 rod thread. As a non-standard stroke exceeding the 1500 mm maximum for this bore, this unit is a made-to-order item.

Where the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X1014S Is Used

conveyor_belt

Long-Reach Material Transfer

The 1014 mm stroke is ideal for pushing or pulling parts across wide gaps in conveyor systems, such as transferring panels between distant belt lines.

warehouse

Vertical Lift Assist

With 2513 N of push force, this cylinder can assist in raising heavy bins or totes in low-headroom warehouse lifting stations, provided external guides manage the long stroke.

precision_manufacturing

Automated Gantry Tooling

Used on the Z-axis of a gantry to lower a gripper or welding head deep into a fixture, with the built-in magnet confirming the fully extended or retracted position.

Is the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X1014S the Right Cylinder?

Select the SC80 when your application requires a force class around 2513 N at 0.5 MPa. If you need a more compact solution with lower force, step down to the SC63 bore (1559 N at 0.5 MPa). For higher thrust, the SC100 bore provides 3927 N at the same pressure. For this 1014 mm stroke, side-load management is critical; an unsupported 25 mm rod at this extension is susceptible to bending under lateral forces, so an external linear guide or a guided cylinder configuration is strongly recommended.

To ensure a correct drop-in replacement, match five key points: the 80 mm bore, the exact 1014 mm stroke, the PT3/8 port thread, the built-in magnet (-S suffix for sensor compatibility), and the basic mounting style (no integrated bracket). This cylinder is a tie-rod design and is not dimensionally interchangeable with ISO 15552 profile cylinders.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Required force at your working pressure
  • ✓ Stroke and mounting space
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/NPT/G)
  • ✓ Magnet (-S) for sensors?
  • ✓ Side load — consider a guided cylinder

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X1014S FAQ

At the standard 0.5 MPa operating pressure, the push force is 2513 N. At the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa, the force increases to 4523 N. The theoretical maximum at 1.0 MPa is 513 kgf.

A stroke exceeding 300 mm on an 80 mm bore cylinder introduces a risk of rod buckling or bearing side-load damage. You must use an external linear guide rail or a rod-alignment coupler to absorb lateral forces. The cylinder itself does not support side loads.
