About the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X1175

The SC80X1175 is a double-acting pneumatic cylinder from the AirTAC SC tie-rod series, combining an 80 mm bore with a long 1175 mm stroke. At 0.5 MPa it produces 2513 N pushing force and 2268 N on the pull stroke, while at the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa the thrust reaches 4523 N.

This model features a 25 mm diameter piston rod with M20x1.5 male threads and PT3/8 ports. The body length A is 182 mm, giving a total extended length of approximately 1357 mm. An adjustable air cushion of 28 mm at each end decelerates the piston smoothly, protecting end caps during high-cycle operation. The standard TPU seals suit ambient temperatures from -20 to +70 °C.

Where the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X1175 Is Used

warehouse

Long-Reach Material Pusher

The 1175 mm stroke moves pallets, boxes, or bulk items across wide conveyor transfers or sorting gates where a shorter cylinder cannot span the required distance.

precision_manufacturing

Large Panel Clamping

Delivers 2513 N at 0.5 MPa to hold large wood panels, composite sheets, or metal blanks during CNC routing or edge-banding, with the long stroke clearing the work zone completely.

engineering

Hopper Gate Actuation

Opens and closes discharge gates on large agricultural or aggregate hoppers. The 4523 N force at 0.9 MPa overcomes sticky or compacted material bridging at the gate.

Is the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X1175 the Right Cylinder?

Choose the SC80 bore when your application needs between roughly 2500 N and 4500 N of pneumatic force at typical shop air pressures. If your load is lighter, stepping down to the SC63 bore saves air and space (1559 N push at 0.5 MPa); for heavier loads the SC100 bore delivers 3927 N at the same pressure.

At 1175 mm this stroke is long. An unsupported rod of this length is vulnerable to bending under side load or high acceleration. Fit an external linear guide to absorb transverse forces, or consider a guided cylinder assembly. When replacing an existing cylinder, match five points exactly: 80 mm bore, 1175 mm stroke, PT3/8 port thread, basic (no accessory) mounting, and the absence of a magnet. Only another AirTAC SC80 of the same configuration is a direct dimensional and performance replacement.

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X1175 FAQ

At 0.5 MPa (≈73 psi) the push force is 2513 N. At 0.7 MPa it rises to 3518 N, and at the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa the cylinder delivers 4523 N. The theoretical maximum at 1.0 MPa is 513 kgf. Pull force is always slightly lower due to the rod area: 2268 N at 0.5 MPa.

The 25 mm rod on an 1175 mm stroke is designed for axial push-pull loads. If your application involves any side (radial) force, install an external linear guide rail or rod-support bearing to carry the transverse load. Never use the cylinder rod itself as a guide. For high-speed operation, reduce the stroke-end cushion adjustment gradually to avoid pressure spikes that can flex the rod.
