About the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X510S

The SC80X510S is an 80 mm bore, 510 mm stroke double-acting tie-rod cylinder equipped with a built-in magnet for direct mounting of CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors. At 0.5 MPa air pressure it produces 2513 N pushing force and 2268 N on the pull stroke, rising to 4523 N push at the maximum operating pressure of 0.9 MPa.

This model uses a 25 mm diameter piston rod with M20x1.5 male threads and PT3/8 ports. Its adjustable air cushion (28 mm length) decelerates the piston smoothly at each end of the 510 mm travel. The body length A is 182 mm, giving a total extended length of approximately 692 mm. The standard TPU seals suit an operating temperature range of -20 to +70 °C.

Is the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X510S the Right Cylinder?

The SC80 delivers 2513 N push at 0.5 MPa. For a lighter, more compact actuator, the SC63 bore provides 1559 N at the same pressure. If your application demands higher force, step up to the SC100 which outputs 3927 N push at 0.5 MPa. Always match the replacement cylinder on five points: bore, stroke, PT3/8 port thread, the basic mounting configuration, and the -S magnet option for sensor compatibility.

At 510 mm of stroke, the 25 mm rod is subject to bending under side loads. For any application where the load is not guided and perfectly axial, add an external guide rail or rod support to prevent premature bearing wear and rod deflection. This cylinder is not a guided unit and should not be used to absorb lateral forces directly.
