About the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X60H

The AirTAC SC80X60H is an 80 mm bore, 60 mm stroke double-acting pneumatic cylinder engineered for high-temperature environments. Equipped with Viton (FKM) seals, it operates reliably from 0 to +150 °C, making it suitable for autoclaves, foundries, and hot pressing applications where standard seals would degrade.

With a 25 mm diameter piston rod and PT3/8 ports, this tie-rod cylinder generates 2513 N of push force at 0.5 MPa and up to 4523 N at 0.9 MPa. The 28 mm adjustable air cushion at each end decelerates the piston smoothly, protecting end caps during high-speed cycling. The body length is 182 mm, resulting in a compact extended length of 242 mm.

Hot Press & Autoclave Actuation

Viton seals allow this cylinder to operate continuously at temperatures up to 150°C, ideal for clamping and ejecting parts in heated platen presses, composite curing autoclaves, and rubber vulcanization equipment.

precision_manufacturing

Foundry & Glass Machinery

Handles ambient heat and radiant loads in foundry knock-out stations and glass forming lines. The 2513 N push force at 0.5 MPa provides ample power for mold movement and gate cutting.

science

Laboratory Sterilization Equipment

Withstands repeated steam sterilization cycles in autoclave doors and medical waste compactors. The FKM seals resist steam and chemical degradation far better than standard TPU or NBR materials.

Is the Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X60H the Right Cylinder?

Select the SC80 bore when your application requires push forces in the 2500 N range at standard plant air pressure. If your force requirement is closer to 1500 N, consider stepping down to the SC63 bore (1559 N at 0.5 MPa) to reduce air consumption and physical size. For higher forces up to 3900 N, the SC100 bore is the next step up.

To replace an existing cylinder, match five key points: bore (80 mm), stroke (60 mm), PT port thread, basic mounting (no bracket), and the absence of a magnet. This model uses Viton seals for high-temperature compatibility. For strokes over 300 mm, always assess side loads; an external guide or guided cylinder is recommended to protect the 25 mm rod from bending.

Quick checklist

  • ✓ Required force at your working pressure
  • ✓ Stroke and mounting space
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT/NPT/G)
  • ✓ Magnet (-S) for sensors?
  • ✓ Side load — consider a guided cylinder

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • check Use clean air filtered to 40µm or finer.
  • check Keep within 0.15 – 1.0 MPa operating pressure.
  • check Avoid side load on the piston rod.
  • check Adjust end cushion screws for smooth stops.
  • check Use correct mounting accessory (FA/FB/CA/CB/LB/TC).
  • check Installation by qualified personnel per AirTAC docs.

Airtac SC80 Standard Cylinder SC80X60H FAQ

At 0.7 MPa operating pressure, the SC80 bore produces 3518 N of push force and 2268 N of pull force (retracting). The pull force is lower due to the area occupied by the 25 mm piston rod.

No. The AirTAC SC series is a tie-rod cylinder, not an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. It has a shorter body length (182 mm body for the 80 bore) and different mounting dimensions. It directly replaces another AirTAC SC80 cylinder with matching stroke, port thread, and mounting.
